Inside Makuhari Messe, it was just as packed.

Fans looking to give letters and gifts to their favorite singers could drop them inside the present boxes provided by the event. How rare of an occasion the concert is becomes apparent, as the names of performers from four generations of Macross are written.

Also on display were the various flower arrangements congratulating the event sent in from both industry members and fans alike, with one even being from overseas fans. The love and adoration for Macross on display here were palpable.

Of course, cosplayers representing various Macross characters were also present, such as two overseas fans who came as Nekki Basara and Mylene Jenius from Macross 7 (in their outfits from the recent Uta Macross mobile game).

Prominently displayed were the three key visuals for the concert made by Macross artists from three generations, namely Chisato Mita (Macross Delta), Risa Ebata (Macross Frontier), and Haruhiko Mikimoto (Macross, Macross 7). Fans could also purchase from a large selection of Macross music albums at the Sofmap booth.

Various dioramas from the Macross Modelers Contest were on show, along with upcoming releases of model kits and figures. The highly anticipated DX Chogokin VF-1S (Hikaru Ichijo Custom) from Do You Remember Love? was also on display.

Macross Frontier still proves to be very popular even after it’s tenth-anniversary last year, as the upcoming releases of the Figures Spirits Kuji statues of Sheryl & Ranka were on display. Fans could also see the life-size statues of Sheryl & Ranka that were announced for sale last year, now unveiled in full color.

More Macross releases coming in the near future, such as the FEVER Macross Delta pachinko machine.

Another staple of recent Macross concerts was the JOYSOUND karaoke booth, where eager fans could come up on stage and belt out their favorite Macross songs to a supporting crowd (I myself managed to sing “Angel Voice” from Macross Dynamite 7). It was a great experience to sing along with other fans who knew each and every song.

Finally, the gates opened and it was time for the concert itself.

Next: A once-in-a-lifetime concert.
