The Indonesian eFootball National Team has done the unexpected by becoming the inaugural champions of the 2023 AFC eAsian Cup. In the final round, Indonesian representatives Rizky Faidan, Akbar Paudie, and Elga Cahaya Putra defeated Japan by winning two straight rounds in the ‘best of 3’ match format. The final was held in Virtuocity Arena, Doha, Qatar on 5 February 2024.

The opening round was very tight and it had to go through the extra time. The game finally ended with a score of 1-1, forcing a penalty shootout. The Indonesian eFootball National Team eventually won the first round after the final penalty kick from Japan was saved by Indonesia, resulting in a score of 3-2 for Indonesia.

The second round was just as intense. Both teams traded strategies in an attempt to gain momentum and escape from the pressure to win.

In the 100th minute, a pass from a free kick allowed the Indonesian team to break the tie and win the inaugural AFC eAsian Cup 2023 title, defeating Japan 1-0 in the process.

The 2023 AFC eAsian Cup is an e-sports competition that was held as a part of the 2023 AFC Asian Cup football competition. In the tournament, 20 Asian nations competed in Konami’s eFootball 2024 game on PlayStation 5. The competition was held from 1-5 February 2024 in the host nation of the 2023 AFC Asian Cup, Qatar.

The Indonesian eFootball National Team’s triumph also helped ease the sorrow of their football fans after the humiliating 4-0 defeat against Australia in the round of 16, which knocked Indonesia out of the tournament. Congratulations to the Indonesian E-Sports National Team!
