Sesuji visited Jakarta to meet readers at the Indonesia International Book Fair (IIBF) 2026, held at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC) Senayan. He also attended an exclusive screening of the film adaptation of the novel.

The day’s activities began with an interactive fansign session as part of IIBF 2026 at Kakatua Hall, JICC Senayan. Hundreds of visitors and fans had the opportunity to meet Sesuji in person, participate in a question-and-answer session, and receive autographs from the author.
Following the IIBF 2026 event, Sesuji attended an exclusive screening of About a Place in the Kinki Region at CGV FX Sudirman that afternoon. The screening was attended by invited guests and members of the media, with Sesuji also giving special remarks ahead of the film’s official theatrical release in Indonesia.

About a Place in the Kinki Region is a horror mockumentary novel that combines fiction with articles from an occult magazine, written documents, and documentary-style photographs. The storytelling format deliberately blurs the boundaries between fiction and reality, inviting readers to piece together the mystery surrounding the disappearance of a journalist named Ozawa.
The novel and its manga adaptation, both published by PGI in Indonesia, have been adapted into a 103-minute feature film directed by Kouji Shiraishi and produced by AX-ON Inc. and Warner Bros.

Speaking to visitors and members of the media, Sesuji expressed appreciation for Indonesian readers’ enthusiasm for the novel and its film adaptation.
“The mockumentary format I wrote was designed to make readers feel as though they were part of the investigation into the mystery. I am very happy to see the enthusiasm of Indonesian audiences, both for the book and its film adaptation, which will soon be released in cinemas.” Sesuji said during the event.
The enthusiasm was also evident among visitors attending IIBF 2026. One visitor and fan of Sesuji’s novels shared their experience of meeting the author.
“Being able to meet Sesuji in person at IIBF 2026 and receive an autograph was an incredible experience. The storytelling in the book is very suspenseful because it feels like a real investigation,” said a fan who attended the event.

Through its participation in IIBF 2026 and the exclusive film screening, Phoenix Gramedia Indonesia showcased About a Place in the Kinki Region across several formats, from the original novel and manga adaptation to its upcoming feature film.
About a Place in the Kinki Region is scheduled to open in cinemas across Indonesia on 16 October 2026.
