On Tuesday (5/3) at Irokay Infinity, South Jakarta, Panorama Media as the organizer behind Indonesia Comic Con announced that they will hold Indonesia Anime Con (INACON). The event will be held from 15 to 16 June 2024 at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD, Tangerang, Banten.

Unlike Indonesia Comic Con, Indonesia Anime Con will be focused on Japanese and Asian pop culture content. In this event, the organizer plans to bring together the elements of creators, hobbies, films, and music. The organizer also hoped that this event would become a meeting centre for Asian pop culture fans and communities from all over Indonesia and even the world.

“Not just a meeting place, but we also want to support the growth of local Intellectual Property (IP) in this event,” said Andita Tirtawisata, Director of Panorama Media. This commitment begins with strategic collaboration with several local Indonesian IPs, such as INFIA Corp., Jiva Animation, Shikisai, and several other local IP players.

“INACON is a golden opportunity for the promotion of local creative works. Hai Dudu’s presence as local IPs together with Vernalta, Dalang Pelo, Fun Cican, and Tanduk Putih is not just about promoting, but is an integral part of celebrating the diversity and quality of local IPs,” said Rizki Pangarso, the creator of Hai Dudu.

The CEO of Jiva Animation, Hikaru Aswin, also added, “We hope that this collaboration can help promote local animation, especially in Indonesia, as well as create opportunities for new animated works to emerge.”

A series of event content that will be presented at the Indonesia Anime Con event includes:

  • Talk show
Interactive sessions with some of the biggest names in the anime and pop culture industry.
  • Competition
From gaming tournaments to cosplay, various competitions will be held at the event. One of the competitions that will be presented is the International Cosplay League (ICL), where the winner of this cosplay competition will become the Indonesian representation at the Gyeonggi International Cosplay Festival (GICOF), a prestigious international cosplay competition held in South Korea.
  • Live Performances
This event will present live performances of various performers who are involved in the pop culture industry. The performance is also being held to improve and showcase Indonesia’s creative industry.
  • Movie & Brand Launch
Indonesia Anime Con is also an event for film studios to launch their new films or other products. This event will make the products look more exclusive as they will be seen by thousands of people.

“The content presented in INACON certainly will provide new insights, experiences, and inspirations for the visitors,” said Lulu Anwar, Indonesia Anime Con Project Manager. Apart from that, Elex Media editor Hyasinta added, “Through collaboration, we want to develop comics as part of Japanese pop culture and the Indonesian creative industry.”
