It took four years and change in studio and staff for the second season of I’ve Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level to arrive. Aside from a brief recap at the beginning, the content of the first episode of the second season essentially consists of two small stories: making some sweet bean paste manju and seeing the goddess who reincarnated Azusa.

Returning to Azusa’s house and seeing the morning routine of its inhabitants, it struck me how much the household has grown in number and how vivacious it is. From getting the people to wake up to the bustling of the kitchen as meal is prepared, it reminds me of the atmosphere of my grandparents’ house was like when their children and grandchildren gathered annually for Eid (though here, it is everyday occurrence). Having a lively family to live with and to care for without all the serious burdens and troubles that might accompany real ones can be considered one of the comfy fantasies that make up the appeal of this series as an easygoing story to relax amidst a busy life. Though, with an increasingly larger cast, it could be a challenge to balance their roles, and I’m curious to see what scenarios the story could come up with to bring out attractive interactions between them.

I’ve Been Killing Slimes for 300 Years and Maxed Out My Level 2 is available in Indonesia on Muse Asia and BStation.
