Indonesian video game studio Pandora Entertainment, in collaboration with Primakara University, has officially released Niskala: Sacred Knowledge of Leak, a horror game based on the Balinese ghost Leak. The game launched on Steam on 25 July 2025, with a Linux version currently in development.

Niskala: Sacred Knowledge of Leak blends traditional folklore, local wisdom, and Balinese cultural elements. The story follows Putu, a university student living in the city, whose life is disrupted after the death of his grandfather. In his final moments, the grandfather whispers something cryptic to Putu, but he does not have time to whisper it clearly. However, it sets off a chain of eerie events in Putu’s life. As strange occurrences begin to plague him, Putu embarks on a journey to understand the nature of this event.

The game offers a narrative-driven experience steeped in Balinese spirituality, cultural diversity, and traditional myth, including the mythology of Leak, a supernatural force rooted in Balinese belief. Through Putu’s eyes, players are invited to explore an unseen world filled with ancient knowledge, hidden threats, and mystical revelations.

According to Balinese folklore, the Leak (or Leyak) is a mythological creature often described as a flying head with heart, lungs, and liver still attached. These beings are said to search for pregnant women or newborns to feed on their blood. Believed to originate from humans who practise black magic and cannibalism. Leak are thought to haunt graveyards, consume corpses, and shapeshift into animals such as pigs.

Pandora Entertainment is a game studio based on Bali. As a studio, they often worked as the outsourcing studio for other partners, with Niskala: Sacred Knowledge of Leak becoming their first commercial game released on Steam. Prior to this game, they also involved in various games, applications, and VR projects such as Fall of Bali, Digitur: Dimana Hanoman, and the Augmented Reality Wayang App Sidhi Plus.
