Heny Susilawati, an Indonesian citizen working at a convenience store in Aomori Prefecture, has received an award from the Japanese police for her action in preventing a fraud attempt during her work.

At the time, Heny noticed that an elderly customer attempted to purchase an unusually high amount of app store cards. It raised her suspicions as she felt that this may be a scam attempt that targets the elderly. Thanks to Heny’s action, the incident was averted before any financial loss occurred.

Japanese authorities have been actively encouraging the public to remain vigilant for this type of fraud. The fraud cases involving the sale of digital gift cards have become increasingly common, particularly among senior citizens.
