Angelo’s childhood ruined when a mafia called Vanetti family killed his entire family. Fortunately his life saved by his close friend, Colteo, and successfully escaped from Lawless Town. His hatred, however, does not go away easily. 9 Years later, he changed his name to Avilio and come back to the town he once lived. After he met with Colteo, he learned about Colteo’s skill as bootlegger and utilize that skill to approach Nero Vanetti, son of Vanetti family leader.

Set in fictional town called Lawless, the staffs in Studio Shuka successfully build the feeling in this anime just like the atmosphere that usually found in a mafia themed story. The viewers can easily carried into setting with grayish brown color palette, western style building landscape, and fitted jazz music. Avilio, the main character in this anime, describe as a tragic hero who try to avenge his family even by using his childhood friend who actually does not want to be involved with mafia activities. It is interesting to see how his revenge story handled in this anime. (Dany Muhammad/Indonesian Anime Times)

The atmosphere of fantasy theme in this series really built up well by its’ background story about war between two factions, the medieval-style town, and also the appearance of cute little sprites. Although being adapted from a light novel series, but Alderamin on the Sky anime series had a very different character design style from its novel. There were some interesting conflicts occured in this first episode, especially where the characters and the princess had to survive and look for some way out from enemy’s territory. For you who look for some fantasy and military theme anime series or maybe to just look for some cute little sprites, this anime might suit your interest. (Rafly Nugroho/KAORI Newsline)

In a panic, Kohei asked that high schooler, who was later revealed as one of his student Kotori Iida, to make them a homemade food. From here, Kohei’s adventure in culinary world has begin.

As an anime that play around parenting theme, father-daughter relationship between Kohei and Tsumugi handled really well here. The viewers can feel Kohei’s dedication and struggle to cover his late wife’s absence. Tsumugi, on the other hand, is really cheerful girl. Her cute smile and spirited personality really gives strong impression to the viewers. But no matter how hard Kohei try, the absence of mother figure still leave a void in their relationship. It start froma a simple problem: Tsumugi want to eat a handmade dinner, not banto or any instant food like what she eat in the last 6 months. This how Kotori introduced. As a daughter of a restaurant owner, she looks insecure with her cooking skill, and his teacher’s problem gives her opportunity to test her cooking skill. It is interesting to watch how this anime will handled the interaction of these characters, as well as how will they solve their own problem. This anime is recommended for you who search for an heartwarming story which revolve around family and parenting theme (Dany Muhammad/Indonesian Anime Times)

Ooki Futaba has just moved from Tokyo, leaving her dearest friends to start her fresh highschool life in an entirely new place. Yet her shy and timid nature makes her anxious whether if she’s capable of making new friends. Fortunately, the hands of fate was being kind to her by arranged her to meet Kohinata Hikari, a bright and cheerful girl who’s deeply in love with scuba diving. The energetic Hikari then pull Ooki’s hands to dive deeper with her, into the ocean of life.

Just like Aria, Kozue Amano’s previous work, Amanchu is all about finding and appreciating bits of happiness in everyday life. Needless to say, Amanchu, which is also handled by the same director as Aria, gives of a really similar vibe. And unlike other shows with similar genre, Amanchu doesn’t lean on gags or comedies. It’s comedies are few and subtle, never disrupts the flow of the show. In that sense, Amanchu leans closer to piece like Flying Witch. And as a complement, Amanchu choose to rely heavily on it’s mood, atmosphere, and scores, which give it a peaceful yet rather melancholic nuance, making time seems to flow slowly throughout the show. The first episode is mainly an introduction for the two main characters, and it managed to establish the contrast between their personalities pretty nicely. And thankfully, Amanchu’s aesthetic looks way more polished than it’s predecessor, while managing to retain the beautiful design from the manga. Amanchu is a gentle piece which taught us that happiness isn’t always about getting what you want, happiness is about appreciating what you get. So, if you’re looking for a peaceful and relaxing shows that tackles on mundane problems, do check out Amanchu. (Yoza Widi/KAORI Newsline)
