On Sunday (10/8), Dead Leg Production, the developer behind comedy racing game Need For Seat, announced that the game prototype has reached ten thousand downloads on itch.io. The announcement was made on their social media, where they thanked their players for this milestone.
Previously, the developer released the prototype of Need for Seat on itch.io. They also released the game trailer on 24 May 2025. The game slowly gained followers, reaching 1,200 downloads in June 2025 and 3,000 downloads in July 2025.
The prototype of Need For Seat offers a glimpse into the game’s humorous concept, where players can race inside an office building, drifting on a chair, and gaining power-ups during race. The exact release date for the full game has not yet been announced yet. However, the developer has mentioned that the game will also be available on Steam.
According to the developer, the idea of the game randomly during while they are busy fixing bugs. After a late-night crunch to fix those bugs, the team is so stressed that they suddenly got this idea to make a game about racing inside the office with your work chair. Later, they developed the idea into a game prototype.
