Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle has officially become the most-watched anime film in Indonesian cinema history, surpassing 1.6 million viewers within just four days of its release.

The film opened in Indonesian cinemas on 15 August 2025 and quickly drew record-breaking audiences. According to independent box office tracking site Cinepoint, the film was watched by 461 thousands viewers on the first day, breaking many Indonesian cinema records, including the most-watched anime film on its premiere day.

By 17 August 2025, the viewers have exceeded one million, and then by 19 August, the film has reached 1.6 million viewers, officially surpassing One Piece: RED as the most-watched anime film in Indonesian Cinema

Written and illustrated by Koyoharu Gotoge​, the original manga of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba tells the story of Tanjirou Kamado, the eldest son of a poor family who lives during the Taisho era.​ One day, his whole family were slaughtered by an unknown demon when he left home to sell charcoal. The only family member who survived is her little sister, Nezuko. Unfortunately, Nezuko also begins to transform into a demon. Now Tanjirou has to undergo a dangerous journey to find a cure for his half-demon sister.​ The manga was serialised in Shueisha’s Weekly Shounen Jump from February 2016 to May 2020, collecting 23 tankoubon volumes in total.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle is based on the Infinity Castle arc of the manga. In the story, the Demon Slayer Corps is lured into Infinity Castle by Muzan, a castle that has become the demon headquarters. Trapped in the castle, the Corps are separated and begin battling numerous powerful demons as they search for Muzan.
