On Friday (17/4), Tsuburaya Productions officially revealed its newest entry in the long-running Ultraman series, Ultraman Teo. The announcement was made through the studio’s official social media channels, alongside a reveal on the Ultraman Indonesia YouTube page.
The new series is part of the franchise’s 60th-anniversary celebrations. Unlike many previous instalments, Ultraman Teo introduces a protagonist who does not originate from the traditional Nebula M78. Instead, the titular Ultraman comes from Planet H12, a world destroyed by a kaiju invasion. As the sole survivor, he eventually arrives on Earth and assumes the human identity of Ibuki Mitsuishi, a medical student portrayed by Aoi Iwanaga.
In his human life, Ibuki is depicted as calm, reserved, and reluctant to engage in violence. However, when Earth faces threats from hostile creatures, he transforms into Ultraman Teo to defend his new home, despite his lack of combat experience.
Ibuki uses a transformation device known as the Teo Crystar, allowing him to transform into a giant warrior from a distant galaxy. The device also features multiple colour modes, enabling Teo to adapt his abilities during battles against kaiju.
The series is written by Shigenori Tanabe, known for Tokusatsu Gagaga, and directed by Takashi Ninomiya (The Greatest Teacher). Special effects direction will be handled by Takanori Tsujimoto (Ultraman Arc).
Ultraman Teo is scheduled to premiere on TV Tokyo on 4 July 2026. The series will also be made available for free on Tsuburaya’s official YouTube channel shortly after its broadcast. International simulcasts have been planned, including in Indonesia, where RTV has confirmed it will air the series starting in July.
