Synopsis
Tsubasa Kurata is a smart and reliable programmer admired by his co-workers for his efficient performance. He is also known as a big mecha fan who is willing to provide a whole room in his apartment to be filled by various types of mecha models that he have purchased. Unfortunately, he died in a car crash after he had bought the latest mecha model kit. Then, he was reborn in another world as Ernesti “Eru” Echevaria. Armed with the memories and interest from his previous life, Eru is determined to become a Knight Runner, a knight who can pilot a Silhouette Knight, a giant humanoid weapon that resides in his present life.
Comments
Knight’s & Magic is not the first anime that combines the fantasy world setting with mecha. However, as a “isekai” series where the protagonist is reborn in another world, the combination makes this anime still feels fresh. One interesting thing is how this episode can be felt as a tribute to mecha fans through Kurata’s character, an ardent fan of mecha in his previous life, who finally encountered actual mecha in his new life as Eru (voiced by Rie Takahashi).
Although the the story and characters in the first episode are introduced in a fast pace (especially in the first half of the episode), Knight’s & Magic seems to be an exciting anime to follow. Although not much, this episode manage to build the hype through its amazing action scenes (including a style of magic that can be used like a jetpack). It would be iteresting to see Eru and the Silhouette Knight to have more mecha action in the next episode.
