Indonesian Vocational School SMK Raden Umar Said Kudus has released a 17-minute short animation titled Nyla via the school’s animation studio RUS Animation. The animations are created by the students of the school and are currently available on RUS Animation’s YouTube channel.
The soundtrack of the animation Menggapai Puncak Dunia is provided by JKT48 and Laleilmanino. Previously, this short anime was also screened at the Jogja Netpac Asia Film Festival in 2024.
Additionally, RUS Animation’s YouTube channel also uploaded a video for behind-the-scenes for Nyla:
Nyla tells a story about a Sumba girl named Nyla. She lives in a family of weavers, yet she aspires to play professional football. She had to run from tradition to ambition, from thread to field, and her journey was not an easy one. However, she believes her dream represents hope for many other young women, driven by her strong roots and courageous steps forward.
The animation was created for more than a year by 265 animation students from Raden SMK Umar Said Kudus in Central Java. The video description mentions that the purpose of this short animation was to inspire young Indonesian women to play football.
