CBI Pictures to Screen “Princess Mononoke” in Indonesia in IMAX and 4K

CBI Pictures has announced that Studio Ghibli’s animated film Princess Mononoke will be screened in Indonesian cinemas in a limited screening. According to the announcement, the screenings are scheduled to begin on 27 August 2025.

The film will be available in both IMAX and 4K formats. More details about the cinema chain has not been announced yet.

Previously, the film was screened in Indonesia during the World of Ghibli event. The event was held from March 2017 to April 2018, and screened in total of 22 Studio Ghibli films in 45 theatres across 17 Indonesian cities.

Directed and written by Hayao Miyazaki, Princess Mononoke follows the story of Ashitaka, a young prince who goes on a journey to cure his cursed arm. Later, he was trapped in a conflict between Irontown and the forest of the gods, as well as the feud between Lady Eboshi and a human girl raised by wolves named San. The film is produced by Toshio Suzuki, and is set during the Muromachi period of Japanese history.
