Known in Japan as Hotaru no Haka, the 1988 film tells the story of Seita and his sister Setsuko, struggling to survive in the final months of the Second World War. The film adapts a short story by Akiyuki Nosaka and is said to have been inspired by Nosaka’s own personal experience in the war. First published in 1967 in the monthly literature magazine Oru Yomimono, Odise Books had published it in Indonesia together with a number of his other short stories as Grave of the Fireflies and Other Stories. The film is also available with an Indonesian dub on Netflix.
