On Monday (11/8), Indonesian horseback archery athlete Adam Numair claimed victory at the Japan Yabusame Championship in Hachinohe, Aomori Prefecture. The event, held at the historic Kushihiki Hachimangu Shrine, brought around 40 horse archers from both Japan and overseas to showcase the traditional Japanese horseback archery sport Yabusame.

Adam competed in the deathmatch category, where competitors must hit all targets (kaichu) or be eliminated. In the final, Adam faced a tense match that ended in a draw, with victory decided by the fastest time. This marks his second Yabusame championship win in Japan, earning him the honour of performing rei (a greeting to show respect) to the Lord Toshifumi Nanbu, the 46th head of the Nanbu clan.

Adam credited his coach, Ayuko “Amy” Kamimura, and the tournament organisers, led by Nagako Ishibashi. He also thanked his horse, Opal-chan, for the win.
