Indonesian game studio GameChanger Studio has released the first teaser for their latest project The Spirit Weaver, a narrative-driven visual novel based on tarot reading. This is GameChanger Studio’s first venture as a publisher, with the game set to launch on PC via Steam.

Developed by StarBullet Studio, The Spirit Weaver transports players to a mystical Spirit Realm under threat from a mysterious force known as The Entropy. Players step into the role of a Tarot Reader summoned by the Spirit Guides to restore balance to this fragile world.

The game centres on empathy and choice, tasking players with guiding lost spirits through their grief, loss, and longing. Each Tarot reading offers different interpretations, with no clear-cut answers of right or wrong, only better or best outcomes. The decisions made during these readings will ultimately shape the fate of both the Spirit Realm and the player’s journey.

Here is the list of the game’s features listed on the Steam page:

  • A Bittersweet Story: Immerse yourself in a narrative about people coping with loss, love, and grief, split into characters with different ideals and personalities.
  • Guide with Tarot: As a Fortune Teller, perform Tarot readings to provide guidance and restore power to the spirits of the realm.
  • Empathetic Gameplay: The key to success is understanding the characters and their feelings to find the best solutions to their problems.
  • Your Readings Shape the Ending: Your Tarot readings determine the end of your story.
  • A Beautiful Fantasy World: Explore a fantasy setting filled with arcane and mystical elements, progressing through the four planes of the Spirit Realm.

The Spirit Weaver originated as a university group assignment of eight Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) students. Later, those eight students founded StarBullet Studio, with the assignment evolving into a full-fledged game. The game is currently in development, with the exact release date has not been announced yet.

Based in Tangerang, GameChanger Studio is a game studio founded by Riris Marpaung and Dodick Sudirman. They are known as the developers of the My Lovely series, a set of dark fantasy simulation games that includes My Lovely Daughter, My Lovely Wife, and My Lovely Empress. The studio also developed a platformer game Ascender and GoBlock’s Impossible Medley in 2017. Currently, they are developing 1998: The Toll Keeper Story, a heavily inspired by the events of the 1998 Asian financial crisis.
