The Royal Bangkok Sports Club (RBSC) has announced they will host their first Uma Musume cosplay race event. It will be held on 14 September 2025 at the RBSC horse racing venue, scheduled after that day’s horse racing tournament.
The event will see participants sprint 150 metres with their own Uma Musume cosplay costume, in the same turf track used by professional racehorses. Cash prizes of 3,000 baht (USD 88.1) for first place, 2,000 baht (USD 58.3) for second, and 1,000 baht (USD 29.8) for third will be awarded.
Prior to this event, more than 450 Uma Musume cosplayers also appeared at the Thailand Queen’s Cup horse racing competition in August 2025. They entertained crowds by posing for photos and running across the track after the races. The strong response prompted RBSC to formalise the idea into a dedicated competition.
Since its debut, Umamusume: Pretty Derby has become a cultural phenomenon in various parts of the world. In Indonesia, the live stream of the Indonesia Derby 2025 horse racing event attracted significant attention, with the VOD being watched by more than 320,000 viewers on YouTube at the time of this writing. The comment section was also flooded with posts from Uma Musume game references, such as “Umazing!”, “Indonesia’s Symboli Rudolf”, “Got hit by Go with the Flow skill,” and many more.
