KAORI Nusantara Bibliobattle continues for the third time! Held on 22 November 2025, the session gathered 8 participants, including 2 duelists. This time, the bibliobattle has “anime with twintail character” as the theme. Shared via the KAORI Nusantara Discord server, the session recommended two anime series with a twintail character as the protagonist.

For this third session of bibbliobattle, the anime series recommended are Joukamachi no Dandelion (Castle Town Dandelion) and Ore Twintail ni Narimasu (Gonna be the Twin-Tail!)Compared to the last session, where the recommendations were far apart time-wise, this session has both anime aired relatively close together. Respectively, Joukamachi no Dandelion aired in 2015, and Ore Twintail ni Narimasu aired in 2014.

Following the steps for the first bibliobattle session. We gathered a short form for the duelists to fill out. Then we gather on the KAORI Nusantara Discord server to listen to the duelists’ presentations. Each of them was given 3 minutes to present their recommendation, and a short Q&A session. After that, we vote and watch the winning recommendation together. In the end, all the participants discussed their impressions.

The watch-along session with the participants in the KAORI Nusantara Bibliobattle held on 22 November 2025

The event on 22 November successfully gathered 2 entries, namely Joukamachi no Dandelion (Castle Town Dandelion) from Duelist Cakra, and Ore Twintail ni Narimasu (Gonna be the Twin-Tail!) from Duelist TwintailDragon. Each person also submitted their comments on the recommended anime. For this session, we experimented by watching the first episode of each recommended anime.

“Sometimes, it takes the best guy to become the best girl.” (TwintailDragon, KAORI Nusantara)

The first session, hosted by Naufal, focused on Ore, Twintail ni Narimasu, an anime that openly parodies sentai and magical girl conventions through an exaggerated obsession with twintails. As TwintailDragon explained the premise, he repeatedly emphasised that the series is more sentai than mahou shoujo series. He also explained how in this series, the twintail girl turned out to be a boy, which he found to be hilarious and funny.

During the Q&A session, the moderator asked about the conclusion of the light novel. For this, TwintailDragon admitted he had not finished reading all 20 volumes. According to TwintailDragon, the light novel follows the “monster of the week” structure that is often found in a sentai or mahou shoujo series. Other participants chimed in with comparisons to similar genre works, like Binan Koukou Chikyuboueibu Love! or Kore wa Zombie desu ka.

Before the watch-along session, the participant also talked about the anime’s availability. Participants joked about the lack of legal streaming options, casually discussing past viewing experiences through Torre**, physical media, or unofficial uploads. For this, the participant chose to actually watch the unofficial release on YouTube with an English dub. For the participants, the usage of English dub actually makes the anime more hilarious.

Moving on to the next duelist.

“I would like to recommend Joukamachi no Dandelion, an anime with a twintail main character. Everything you desire from a twintail character is here: flat-chested, deredere personality, and has superpower. This anime might feel like every other slice-of-life anime, with daily school life episodes, but if you’re a true twintail enjoyer, you will see further down the plot, various twintail styles and character development in the story, making the series deep and meaningful.” (Cakra, The Indonesian Anime Times)

In the Q&A session, the duelist were asked various questions regarding the series. Joukamachi no Dandelion anime is an adaptation of a manga with the same title. The manga was serialised in Manga Time Kirara magazine in a 4-panel format, that was until the story goes deep and the plot thickens.  Joukamachi no Dandelion has concluded the serialisation, but there are some derivative works made. The participants stated they never watch the anime adaptation.

For Joukamachi no Dandelion watch-along, the participants used the Japanese dub. When the watch-along session ended, the participants voted for which anime they would like to continue watching based on their impression of the presentation and the first episode. The result showed four votes for Joukamachi no Dandelion and three votes for Ore Twintail ni Narimasu. After the voting, the participants proceed to discuss various tropes related to the twintail hairstyle across media. Upper side twintail hairstyle is familiar in childish characters or characters who are of school age. “Drill hair” twintail hairstyles are usually found in a villainous character of a shoujo manga. Low and (sometimes) braided twintail hairstyles are associated with a timid, quiet character. The participants excitedly talked about the stereotypes around twintail characters as the session ended.
