In addition to the film screenings, JFF 2025 will feature a range of supporting programmes. Festival-goers can collect special merchandise available free of charge each year and participate in educational initiatives such as JFF x Working in Japan, a special screening and discussion for Japanese language learners aiming to work in Japan under the Specified Skilled Worker (SSW) visa, including conversational sessions with native speakers at JFF Padang.
The festival will open with Sunset Sunrise, directed by KISHI Yoshiyuki and released in 2025. Set in areas affected by the 2011 earthquake and tsunami, and framed against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic. The film has previously screened at international festivals in Italy, Beijing, Shanghai, Boston, Toronto, and Chicago.

The Japanese Film Festival is an annual film screening event that focuses on showcasing Japanese films. As of 2019, JFF has been held in 12 countries across the world, including Australia, Russia, China, India, and many Southeast Asian countries, including Indonesia.
