WEBTOON has launched a regional campaign titled Baca Official, Dukung Kreator Berkarya! (English Translation: Read Official, Support Creators’ Work!). This campaign aims to raise awareness about digital piracy and encourage readers to support creators by accessing official content.
The campaign features original illustrations from 43 creators from Korea and Indonesia, including artists behind popular titles such as Iseop’s Romance, The Second Marriage, Gloomy Sunday, Si Ocong, and SMAS’D. These artworks convey a unified message promoting official reading channels and the sustainability of the creative community.
The initiative follows studies indicating that 63% of Indonesian internet users have accessed pirated content at least once. WEBTOON Indonesia Lead Song Hee Park stated that the campaign serves as a reminder that reading official releases could protect the creators who work behind the scenes.
“WEBTOON believes that every story deserves appreciation, and every creator deserves support,” said Park. “Through this campaign, we want to remind readers that accessing official platforms is not only about enjoying great stories, but also about protecting the people behind them. This initiative is part of our long-term commitment to combating digital piracy and fostering a fair creative ecosystem for all creators.”
As part of the campaign, participating illustrations appear within the platform, accompanied by a special campaign episode. Readers have also shown strong support through the hashtag #Banggabacaofficial on social media.
A reading event is being held from 31 October to 6 November, offering users 20 coins for reading 20 episodes from participating series. All 43 campaign illustrations are available on WEBTOON’s official website.
