Previously, through her social media, she announced her upcoming original song on 18 July 2026. From 18 to 20 July, she posted a daily reminder in shorts video format leading to her original song premiere. Then, on 21 July, she announced that her latest song has already available on YouTube and various music streaming platforms.
For the song, Kobo Kanaeru provided the vocals herself. Japanese-American musician Seann Bowe is credited as lyricist, composer, music arranger, and producer.
Switch It Up is Kobo’s ninth original song. Previously, she also released eight original songs titled Mantra Hujan, Oh! Asmara, Entah.., Sebatas Video Call, HELP!!, Mandi Biar Wangi ☆ Washa Washa!, Fond Memories, and First Love. Her third original song, Entah.. and her latest song, Switch It Up, were released under the music label holo-n, a joint label between Hololive Production and Universal Music.
