The controversy arose when viewers noticed the subtitles for In/Spectre season 2 episode 12 contained a highly inappropriate comment by the translation team. In the subtitle file, the translation team make jokes about sexual violence towards underage children and the religion of Bodhisattvas Ākāśagarbha. Those comments had not been erased when the aforementioned episode was uploaded to the Muse Indonesia YouTube channel and can be seen by the viewers.

Because of the incident, Muse Indonesia announced that they have terminated their working relationship with the translation team involved in the controversy. The translation team, which included translators named Ardie and Kresendo, will no longer work with Muse Indonesia in the future. However, Indonesian anime fans have already questioned the professionalism of the Muse Indonesia translators and the quality-checking process of Muse Indonesia’s releases

Later on their Facebook stream, Muse Indonesia representative, Daem, also explained further about the incident. According to Daem, the subtitle for the In/Spectre season 2 episode 12 happened to be late. Kresendo’s team delivered the subtitle only 1 hour before the release schedule. Because of this, the episode isn’t checked by the Quality Control team.
