On Monday (22/6), Muse Asia announced they have licensed Draw This, Then Die!. More information about the streaming platform and the countries where the anime will be available has not yet been announced.
Adapted from a manga by Minoru Toyoda, Draw This, Then Die! tells the story of Ai Yasumi, a first-year high school student who loves manga. However, Ai’s comfortable world as a passive manga consumer is completely changed when she discovers that her long-time idol, the notoriously reclusive manga creator Hoshino-sensei, will be making an exceedingly rare public appearance at the Comitia independent comic convention.
Risking the journey from her home on a remote Izu Oshima island, Ai’s fateful meeting with her hero makes her change her perspective. Now she doesn’t want to be just a mere reader. She wants to be a creator.
Draw This, Then Die! manga has been serialised in Shogakukan’s Monthly Shonen Sunday since November 2021. It won the 16th Manga Taisho in 2023 and the 70th Shogakukan Manga Award in 2025. The anime adaptation is being produced by Shin-Ei Animation and is scheduled to anchor Nippon TV’s premier ‘Friday Anime Night’ broadcasting block.
