On 26 July 2025, Indonesian game developer Deskteam officially released the demo for Desktown, a minimalist city-builder game on Steam. Unlike traditional city-building games, Desktown is designed so that the player can play the game while they are working.

When the app is active, Desktown is designed to sit unobtrusively at the bottom corner of the screen. Players can grow and decorate their town while engaging in other activities, such as watching videos, working, or gaming. The game features a unique “mini planet” view that can be minimised to avoid distraction, and incorporates various productivity tools, including countdowns, alarms, and Pomodoro timers.

The demo includes two unique areas to explore, while the full version promises five unique zones set across various eras. Additional features include customisable decorations, word-guessing mini-games that reward players with resources, and support for low-spec PCs, requiring only Windows 10 or 11, 4GB RAM, and 200MB of storage.
